Beautiful Jesus.

July 12, 2008 at 6:26 am (I[heart]Jesus)

I’ve heard people complain about words like “beautiful” being attached to Jesus. Too feminine apparently.

In Isaiah 61:1, it is said of Jesus

1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

Maybe my mind isn’t filled with enough testosterone-driven bravado to ignore that verse, but everything about Jesus in this verse is beautiful.

    to those whose mind is filled with “testosterone-driven bravado”, why would you assume that they would ignore that verse?

    Overall, my contention lies with people who are too driven to try and be “manly” like many of their forefathers. The “I’m too manly to cry” crowd.

    People whose take on the word “beautiful” is so narrow, it applies to women and feminine things. People who think its too fluffy and too “rainbows and unicorns” for Jesus.

    Don’t get me wrong- I’m not saying we should all be Rob Bell (ew…no). But I think a lot of men fix their priorities on acting tougher than they really are (or were intended to be).
